The Loss of Lancaster JA691

The crew of Halifax HR817 (405 Sqn)

 

 

Halifax II HR817 of 405 Sqn took off from Gransden Lodge at 2034hrs on the 17th August 1943. Outbound, it strayed south of the intended route and was shot down by flak over Flensburg. This loss was the raid's first casualty.
